What’s up world changers??
Let’s have a chat about communication and how can we do this more effectively.
There’s so many layers to this, and there are libraries filled with books written by people way more qualified than I am.
But I wanted to take a minute and talk about what I’ve learned about communication – specifically during a first impression – and the role it plays in your health.
We all know the saying: “You only get one chance to make a first impression” and this is true.
We ALL judge others.
Even though we aren’t “supposed” to we do it. We judge others for their appearance, dress, complexion, physical fitness,, the car they drive (or don’t drive)…you get the point.
If we are going to have optimal results in life, we need to control our first impressions.
Energy is the secret sauce in life. Your energy is what attracts people to you, or turns them away. So in order to make a great first impression, you need to put out great energy.
I don’t mean the phony, super-hyper energy, but the energy that you just know when someone has a good vibe.
We used to have a saying in football: “Look good. Feel good. Play good. Get paid good.”
Usually this referred to how good your uniform looked and how “crispy” it was. But I believe it transfers to life.
It’s great to look good in a new suit, or dress (ladies), but how many people actually feel comfortable in their own skin?
The best designer label you can wear is called confidence (not cockiness).
I find it interesting that people will spend thousands of dollars on new clothes but will find it “too expensive” to invest in their health.
Your health is your wealth.
Too many people spend their health to get their wealth, then spend their wealth to get their health back.
Who knows someone like this? Maybe it’s the person looking bak at you in the mirror?
We are ALWAYS getting a result, it just depends on if it is the one we want or not.
The good news is that you can change these results at any time, and my mission is to enable and encourage people to pursue the best version of themselves spiritually, mentally, and physically.
So how do we build and/or increase our confidence? And therefore have better first impressions.
There’s many ways to do this, but let’s start with the beginning of the day and starting right by cultivating a positive mindset.
Habits create patterns, and patterns create results.
Habits are formed by your mindset and your mindset starts at the beginning of the day (your morning routine).
See the pattern here? ;)
So here is the challenge for you: The “Love Yourself” Challenge.
I chose this name because we are supposed to love our neighbors AS we love ourselves, which means we must love ourselves FIRST if we are going to love others properly.
It’s ok to be selfish here. An empty cup can’t overflow.
In order to keep that cup full, you must start your day right and in a positive mindset.
Many people don’t control the first part of their day and that can lead to negative thought patterns. Checking email, news, social media, or another source of media vomit can wait to later.
Take control of the morning and your mindset!
My challenge to you, if you so choose to accept it, is to implement the following:
1. Get up 30 minutes earlier (this may mean you need to get to bed 30 minutes earlier the night before)
2. Drink water before anything else (ideally alkaline water)
3. Meditate (I highly recommend the free Headspace app) 10 minutes
4. Do something physical (Ex: 10 push-ups, 10 squats, 10 jumping jacks)
This challenge lasts until the July 4, Independence Day. After all, we’re asserting your freedom to control how you feel and how you perform.
I know each and every one of you can do this. You won’t miss 30 minutes of sleep and a consistent routine will pay HUGE dividends to your future, health, confidence, communication, and first impressions.
Remember, control what you can control. Don’t worry about the rest.
Being busy is not an excuse. Busy people can get things done.
Saying you are “too busy” is just a way of saying you choose to prioritize one thing over another, and quite often people choose other things before health.
You can identify what you value by where you spend your time and resources. I could check your bank statement and know exactly what you value.
If it was easy, we would all be skinny, rich and happy.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable and remember on the other side of your biggest fear is your destiny.
So are you in for the challenge??? If you are, comment YES below!
I believe in you and I’m here for you!
Your friend,
Nate
